The Gather E.P. artwork was truly inspired by vast landscapes that conveyed a feeling of task, that there was a large area of land to cover a head of the viewer. With no other figures in the images, I hoped to create a feeling of just going ahead and not waiting for the person next to you to start first.
The final image was created with the combination of four Polaroid images taken along I-15 from Salt Lake City to Anaheim and at the Great Salt Lake. My love for the Polaroid started because my wife wanted to buy one to play with. Well, I am the one that seemed to start to shooting with it way more, learning the subtle nuances that each type of camera gives. I loved using the Polaroid images for their natural distress and color variances in the images. These four images were taken with an SX-70 with The Impossible Project film.
The typography needed to match the feel and I felt very strongly that a serif font would do the trick. Giving it a little bit of a glow, helped convey the sun shinning in your eyes at sunset.
